This was fun, my friend said her husband has been working on a VW that they HOPE will run once the battery is put in. She wanted this suprise cake for his big 40th birthday! The flavor was Neopolitan- Chocolate cake, strawberry filling, Vanilla frosting.
Happy Birthday Lance!

Thor!
This was based on the nerf toy version of the Hammer from the movie Troy! Looking back my regret is not getting Samuels name on there! Happy Birthday!

Indiana Jones!
Why did it have to be snakes?!?!?
Love these movies so this was a fun cake to make! Nik wanted a Temple of Doom and I had to add the boulder just because that makes it so officially Indy.
I used molding chocolate and it worked great for the walls without being too heavy.
Happy Birthday Nik!!!

Yo Ho Yo Ho a Pirate Cake for me!
This was a lot of fun! I had been wanting to do a pirate cake for awhile, and was thrilled to do it for a 5 year old- wish I could have seen his face!

Poker Night
This was a cake that needed to Celebrate Ron Sr.s 73rd birthday as well as the "3rd Annual Poker Tournament" so I put Ron's age on a big poker chip and I thought it was very clever :)
The di took me three tries, I kept messing up the black dots and smearing them, they were the hardest thing to make on the cake! I also messed up and put the "straight flush" in the wrong order but luckily my husband caught it before I sent it out the door!

More Mario!
This was a cake that just needed to be "something Mario" so I looked at a picture of the new game and made the cake like one of the towers I saw (I know nothing about the game though!) and put a Mario face, I was cutting the Mario while the cake was in the fridge, and when I brought it in I realized I made the face smaller than I meant to but... it still worked alright. (Can you tell I have been loving the star burst thingies?)
Happy Birthday Tyler!
Happy Birthday Tyler!
Laser Tag Anyone?
To make this theme I called the Laser tag place where the party was going to be and asked someone to text me a picture of their laser guns for me to copy, but the gun was SO strange looking that I had to just go ahead and copy the Fisher Price toy laser gun.
Motorcycles and Guitars
This family loves having hobbies and "favorite things" on their cakes! For Tim's Birthday it was Dirt biking and "riding on to what is next in life" and then for Kevin, turning 8 was a rock-n-roll theme.
I am noticing that while the cakes were made about 3 weeks apart, they both have the same color scheme going on :)

Roaring Good Time!
This 8 year old was having a jungle themed party and Lions (!!) are her favorite animal... Happy Birthday Riley!
This was a 9" 3 layer cake with fondant and molding chocolate for the Lion face and beads around the bottom. I thought that the frosted mane could also be a template for a big sunflower cake!

Angry Birds!!
This was a really fun cake to make- what a fun birthday theme for a 7 year old (or any year old for that matter!) I thought it would be fun to post pics of the evolution of my little birds :) Personal Fav is the little bird getting ready to be sling shotted across!!
This was a CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE cake with minis to go along with it...

Nerf Guns!
Andrew's Mom sent me a pic of his nerf gun and I replicated it for his "NERF" themed party- too big for a jumbo cupcake so I put it on a 6" cake circle. Nerf Darts on the cupcakes made to be shot straight into the mouth :)
Happy Birthday Andrew!

Lightening McQueen!
This was for one of the sweetest little boys, Tyler is obsessed with Lightening so I loved making this one....
Just Cake!
This was a Devils Food cake-, every time I make these 12" inch cakes I am still suprised at how big they are, I wanted to try and give size perspective with the water bottle :)

Harry Potter
These were for a HUGE Harry Potter Fan. To quote my son, "she knows more about Harry Potter than anyone else in my class!" She knew she wanted edible Harry Potter heads but left the rest up to me. It would be really easy to get carried away- there are so many ideas and things you could do with Harry Potter but to be realistic I stuck to 4 different symbols; Harry Potter, a wand spraying "magic", a golden sphinx and books of spells.

I noticed later that I think Harry needs eyebrows! But otherwise I like him. |

Next time I would cover the ball in golden sugar! |
